Responsibilities
As our PACU Nurse at CHI Williston Health, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll apply your nursing knowledge and skills in the recovery room and it doesn’t stop there.
Most patients never realize the part you played in getting them through one of their most vulnerable moments. Honoring your commitment to care for others is thanks enough.
Recovery room nursing requires keen assessment skills as your patients are sometimes not able to communicate with you. No two days are alike in the recovery room and no two patients have the same circumstances.
- Maintain a knowledge base regarding sedation/analgesic and anesthetic agents and techniques, physiologic and physiological response to the recovering patient
- Assess, plan, intervention for and evaluate the physical and physiological response to analgesia; able to plan for the risks and the interventions for those risks associated with the administration of sedation, analgesia, and anesthetic agents
- Assesses patient’s health and continuously monitors; detect changes in symptoms, health or pain, and take action as necessary; and quickly and accurately assess patient care needs
- Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol
- Collaborates with other care staff to assure smooth transition for patient throughout the facility using proper hand off techniques
- Administers medications, IV therapy, and treatments in compliance with policies and procedures

Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Required.
- Minimum of two (2) years RN experience, Required.
Required Licensure and Certifications
- Registered Nurse: North Dakota (RN:ND), Required Upon Hire.
- American Heart Association BLS-CPR, Required Upon Hire.
- ACLS, Required Upon Hire.
- PALS, Required Upon Hire.
