Overview

As a Respiratory Therapist at CHI Williston Health, you’ll join an established team of RTs who share your passion in caring for patients experiencing breathing issues. Our Respiratory Therapists are highly trained when it comes to delivering specialized cardiopulmonary care including  breathing techniques, ventilator management, nebulizer treatment, oxygen therapies, external ventilation support and some pulmonary function assessments. 

Your success in this role comes from a blend of your keen assessment skills and a sense of urgency. You have the ability to remain calm and focused in emergent situations. Your critical thinking skills enhance your care plans as you know what to do as well as the expected outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Performs assessment of patient’s health and continuously monitors; detect changes in symptoms, and take action as necessary; and quickly and accurately assess patient care needs
  • Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol 
  • Administers therapy modalities which include, Handheld Nebulize (HHN), HHN via metered close inhaler (HHN/MDI), Intrapulmonary Percussive Ventilation (IPV), Chesty Physical Therapy (CPT), and Pentamidine therapy
  • Administers medical gas therapy including oxygen and Helium-Oxygen Therapy (He02)
  • Performs ventilation therapies, including maintenance and management of life support systems
  • Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms
  • Maintains order, stock, and cleanliness of all areas in the department
  • Practices safe work habits, compliance with safety rules and regulations, and adheres to safety policies
  • Utilizes resources appropriately and follows facility guidelines, policies, and procedures

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience 

  • Graduate of an accredited college or technical school for Respiratory Therapy

Required Licensure and Certifications

  • RESP-LIC:North Dakota.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS-CPR).
  • ACLS.
  • NRP.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

  • Established leadership skills
  • Knowledge of coaching and mentoring best practices 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, detailed oriented
  • Ability to work with people, establish priorities, and handle workflow with frequent interruptions
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
