The pharmacy intern is responsible for assisting the Pharmacist in medication preparation, compounding, inventory management, and distribution, requiring extreme accuracy and attention to detail. The pharmacy intern may practice in the inpatient, retail, specialty, or ambulatory setting depending on assignment. The pharmacy intern has responsibility for assisting with controlled substances management, meeting DEA, FDA, and state regulations, and has access to and manages medication storage areas using pharmacy automation. The pharmacy intern fields and triages calls and questions regarding medication distribution, assisting other caregivers within their scope of practice. The intern will also actively participate in clinical and administrative functions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to augment their education and to gain insight and practical experience in their future roles as pharmacists. The intention of an intern program during pharmacy school is to progress in responsibilities throughout their time with the organization and in their didactic education.

Required Education and Experience:
- Current enrollment in an accredited College of Pharmacy.
Required Licensure and Certifications:
- Active Pharmacist Intern License in good standing in the state in which the employee works, PHARMINTERN:XX
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training:
Verbal and written communication, Knowledge of drug names desired with the expectation of continuing education on new drugs. Knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to the pharmacy profession. Skills in multi-disciplinary team involvement with direct patient care. Must be available to work rotating shifts and weekends.
