The posted compensation range of $27.97 - $42.33 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
Join our Hospital team as a Mechanic Engineer. In this role you will
- Operate and maintain stationary engines, mechanical equipment, compressors, generators, and steam boilers to ensure the provision of utilities such as lighting, heating, power, refrigeration, air conditioning, and other essential services for the hospital.
- Deliver exceptional customer service when interacting with patients, visitors, and fellow staff members.
- Work independently with minimal supervision and provide mentorship and coaching to less experienced facilities staff.
- Perform general maintenance tasks, including but not limited to electrical work, plumbing, equipment maintenance, and safety testing.

Education Requirements
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. required
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of two years of experience in maintaining, operating, and repairing building mechanical systems, including boilers, liquid chillers, pumps, fans, air handling units, heat exchangers, and other related equipment.
- Familiarity with medical gas systems, including medical air pumps, medical vacuum pumps, bulk oxygen, nitrous oxide, nitrogen, and backup systems.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical degree or certificate in a facilities-related field.
- Knowledge of Building Automation Systems and Computerized Maintenance Management systems. Experience in hospital facilities or healthcare construction is a plus.
- Certification as a Stationary Engineer, Boiler Operator Class A & B, CFC, and/or Journeyman.
- City and County Stationary Engineer Certificate.
Physical Requirements
- Medium Work - occasional exertion/lifting of up to 50 lbs., frequent exertion/lifting of up to 20 lbs., constant exertion/lifting of up to 10 lbs.
