The posted compensation range of $22.18 - $32.18 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Recreation Therapist, you will direct the therapeutic recreation program, utilizing recreation as a tool to help patients achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle and cope with mental illness.
Every day you will conduct individual and group therapies, focusing on building healthier coping skills and improving leisure time utilization to support patient well-being.
To be successful in this role, you will possess expertise in therapeutic recreation, strong group and individual therapy skills, and a compassionate approach to helping patients develop healthy coping mechanisms and lifestyles.
- Evaluates patients and develops treatment plans including specific goals, functional outcomes, reevaluating and modifying plans as necessary.
- Consults with members of the multidisciplinary team to select the most appropriate activity program for individual patients based on patient needs and capabilities.
- Utilizes a variety of educational, physical, recreational and social activities to foster patient achieving maximum independence.
- Assesses, develops and conducts group activities based on cognitive abilities and individual treatment needs.
- Evaluates and documents patient progress, attitudes, and behaviors on an ongoing basis.
- Communicates and collaborates with family members and other care givers regarding the plan of care for the patient.
Required
- Bachelor's or Graduate degree with an emphasis in Recreational Therapy (Therapeutic Recreation)
- One (1) year of experience in an acute care setting
- Demonstrates clinical and ethical professionalism, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 90 days of hire
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification upon hire or must obtain within six (6) month of hire
- Licensed as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (TRC) with the State of UT
Preferred
- Previous mental health experience
