Responsibilities

Position Summary:


Under minimal direction, the Pharmacy Coordinator assists in the day-to-day functions of Clinical Pharmacy Services. This position is responsible for gathering information from medical records and other sources as required to assist patients and Clinical Pharmacists in the PRICE clinic while adhering to the department protocol policies. The Pharmacy Coordinator assists in creating an environment that exhibits a positive attitude toward patients and employees and engages in promoting excellent customer service.


Responsibilities may include:
- Checks patients into their PRICE appointment.
- Facilitates scheduling PRICE appointments.
- Researches potential options for patients prior to an appointment being scheduled. Identifies appropriate cost saving interventions.
- Maintains a provider roster with pertinent data for the PRICE clinic.
- Ensures that the PRICE Clinic voicemail is maintained and calls are returned appropriately.
- Creates chart notes within the EMR.
- Using an established process, identifies patients who require review by a clinical pharmacist.
- Develops and maintains close contact with patients both in person and on the phone to facilitate their enrollment and eligibility in the pharmacy Patient Assistant Assistance Program (PAP).
- Completes and obtains pertinent information when completing the PAP applications and forms.
- Manages the initial PAP process including submission of the application, phone follow-up with patients, pharmaceutical companies and providers.
- Manages the renewals of medications and eligibility of PAPs including phone follow-up with patients, pharmaceutical companies and providers. Develops a tracking system to manage renewals.
- Works collaboratively with the Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Supervisor to meet organizational objectives and goals.
- Interacts daily with staff and management to ensure an open line of communication is maintained in order to identify and address any issues, needs, and/or concerns as they arise.
- Maintains the Pharmacists group calendar with clinic assignments, cross coverage and PTO.
- Provides administrative support to the Clinical Pharmacists.
- Develops and maintains relationships with clinic supervisors and staff to support Clinical Pharmacy Services.
- Serves as a liaison with the student and resident Program Coordinators. Facilitates access to the Dignity Health Medical Foundation computer network, Allscripts and LMS for students and residents.
- Ensures that phone calls and, faxes and voicemail is are appropriately handled.
- Ensures that EMR tasks are being handled in the appropriate turnaround time.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


- 2 years experience in retail pharmacy/medical/ insurance experience.
- Clear and current CA Pharmacy Tech certification.
- Associates degree or equvilent experience
- Computer skills including Microsoft Work, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Desktop Publishing software.

Preferred Qualifications:


- 5 years experience in retail pharmacy/medical/insurance experience preferred.
- Previous Leadership experience preferred.
