Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Polysom Tech, you will perform diagnostic sleep procedures per physician orders and established protocols.

Every day you will set up the lab, prepare patients, conduct and evaluate polysomnograms, score sleep staging, assist with data tabulation, and monitor/adjust equipment.

To be successful, you will possess thorough knowledge of sleep monitoring equipment, maintain skills through education, and participate in quality assurance under Sleep Lab Manager supervision, ensuring diagnostic accuracy and patient safety.

  • Achieves operational duties in administrative Functions, patient education, diagnostic assessment, therapeutic intervention, polysomnography study scoring, and polysomnography study reporting
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of digital sleep study equipment utilizing various sensors and monitors designed for sleep disordered breathing detection
  • Proficiency in use of digital sleep study equipment designed to detect stages of sleep and sleep arousals, and periodic limb movement
  • Fit and apply CPAP and Bi‐Level positive pressure patient interface devices for the treatment of sleep disordered breathing. Devices include nasal masks, headgear, full‐face masks and nasal prongs
  • Progression to Bi‐Level positive pressure therapy as indicated by continued respiratory events, including intolerance of high level CPAP pressures, central events, not responsive to CPAP, hypopnea events not responsive to CPAP
  • Service Management and Professional Practice: Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control. Perform routine and complex equipment care and maintenance. Evaluate sleep study related equipment and inventory and report malfunctions or discrepancies to the supervisor.
Job Requirements

Required

  • Associates Other, upon hire or
  • completion of a respiratory care program, upon hire or
  • Certificate Other an appropriate sleep study certification, upon hire and
  • One (1) year related experience
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 - days
