Responsibilities

Job Summary:

As a RN Clinical Research Coordinator, you will conduct professional nursing research and provide study services across both inpatient and outpatient settings. Your responsibilities will include screening, enrolling, and monitoring clinical research patients/volunteers, ensuring that all activities are carried out according to FDA guidelines and study protocols. This role requires you to closely monitor patient progress, provide timely and accurate reporting, and ensure adherence to safety standards throughout the clinical trial process.

You'll be responsible for ensuring the collection of data and patient information is accurate and consistent, while working in compliance with FDA regulations, Good Clinical Practices (GCP), and study-specific protocols. You will also interact directly with patients, guiding them through the research process, answering questions, and ensuring their well-being and informed consent.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Patient Eligibility & Enrollment: Screen patients using protocol-specific criteria, and explain the purpose, risks, and benefits of clinical trial participation. Ensure informed consent is obtained.
  • Clinical Care & Monitoring: Perform vital signs monitoring, administer study medications (as applicable), and conduct assessments like EKGs and phlebotomy.
  • Patient Communication & Compliance: Provide instructions and follow-up with patients, ensuring adherence to the protocol and documenting adverse events or deviations.
  • Data Management & Reporting: Record clinical data, communicate results to investigators, and ensure accurate documentation of case report forms (CRF) and other study-related documents.
  • Collaboration with Sponsors & Teams: Serve as a liaison between study sponsors, investigators, and internal research staff, ensuring effective communication and protocol adherence.
  • Audit & Compliance: Assist with external audits, monitor patient response to treatment, and take corrective actions when necessary. Ensure adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Research Logistics & Scheduling: Plan, schedule, and coordinate patient visits, assessments, and follow-ups, ensuring that clinical trials run smoothly and efficiently.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience:
    • Associate's Degree in Nursing and three years of relevant experience OR a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
    • Experience with clinical trials, patient care, or related research is highly desired.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Washington State Board of Nursing.
    • Current healthcare provider BLS certification.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
    • Understanding of clinical research protocols, patient eligibility criteria, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, GCP/ICH).
    • Ability to perform standard nursing procedures including EKGs, phlebotomy, and medication administration as per protocol.
    • Proficient in documenting clinical activities and maintaining study-related records.
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for patient interaction and collaboration with study sponsors and research teams.
    • Ability to handle the responsibilities and pressure associated with clinical trial accuracy and patient safety.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
    • Previous experience in a clinical research environment or as a Clinical Research Coordinator.
    • Familiarity with clinical research regulations, drug studies, and FDA guidelines
