Job Summary and Responsibilities
Are you a highly skilled and passionate Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse with a gift for teaching and a commitment to advancing specialized nursing practice? Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH) is seeking a dedicated Regional RN Educator to coordinate and develop sophisticated nursing and clinical education programs specifically for our NICU teams.
This vital role supports both specialized NICU practice and system-wide learning initiatives, playing a direct part in enhancing the quality and cost-effectiveness of patient care for our tiniest patients.
EVERY DAY, YOU WILL:
- Specialized Education Leadership: Coordinate and develop comprehensive education and training activities tailored for nursing specialties within the NICU, supporting both foundational and advanced practice.
- System-Wide Learning Contribution: Actively support system-wide learning initiatives, integrating NICU-specific knowledge into broader organizational educational strategies.
- Collaborative Partnership: Enhance the quality and cost-effectiveness of patient care by providing expert educational support to NICU nursing staff and other clinical personnel, in close collaboration with medical staff, department directors, and Education Services.
- Curriculum Development & Delivery: Design, implement, and evaluate didactic, clinical, and simulation-based educational programs that reflect current best practices in neonatal critical care.
- Professional Development: Drive professional growth initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous learning and expertise among NICU nurses, clinical technicians, and other staff members.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL DEMONSTRATE:
- Exceptional NICU Expertise: Possess professional nursing expertise and a thorough understanding of clinical nursing practices and standards within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This expertise is crucial for developing and delivering impactful clinical nursing education programs and for establishing credibility with clinical audiences, including RNs, Clinical Technicians, and other nursing staff.
- Mastery of Adult Education: Exhibit a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of adult education, applying effective teaching methodologies to diverse learning styles and needs.
- Instructional Design & Delivery: Strong skills in instructional design, curriculum development, and the ability to deliver engaging and effective educational content.
- Credibility & Influence: Capability to serve as a credible resource and role model for clinical staff, inspiring best practices and professional accountability.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively partner with a multidisciplinary team, leadership, and various stakeholders.
- Analytical & Critical Thinking: Strong analytical abilities to assess educational needs, evaluate program effectiveness, and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- 3+ years of RN nursing work experience in the designated specialty area that demonstrates the attainment of the requisite job knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Active Washington State Registered Nurse License
- Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program Instructor (NRP-I) preferred
