Responsibilities

This job is responsible for coordinating and providing professional support for Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH) strategic and business development planning projects/studies/processes of a quantitative and qualitative nature through researching, organizing, analyzing, interpreting and presenting complex data from a wide variety of sources. Work is performed in support of planning and decision-making on significant business development opportunities and system initiatives relating to matters such as integration/access, growth/increased market share, competitive position and physician/patient satisfaction. An incumbent acts as an internal consultant to management in developing business plans, analyzing new business opportunities and accessing technology acquisition and/or replacement. Work involves the application of strong data mining/analysis skills to complete timely and in-depth analyses and prepare and present written and verbal reports on internal, environmental and strategic topics identified by senior management. An incumbent is responsible for identifying the most credible data sources, abstracting techniques and presentation format to produce high quality results targeted to the intended audience.


Work involves significant management contact to: 1) produce presentation-ready materials which provide a strong foundation for presenting complex concepts/data to various audiences and are designed to fully inform and influence decision-making processes; 2) explain/interpret data, report content and/or results achieved; 3) facilitate understanding of the information needed to support clinical practices/organizational priorities and provide actionable opportunities for improvement. An incumbent must demonstrate significant skill in managing projects and in explaining data that may be unanticipated and/or challenged as to methodology and/or accuracy.


Considerable knowledge of the principles, professional standards, practices, methodologies and tools relating to strategic business planning and business development and the ability to understand/forecast future health-care related market/economic/regulatory conditions and development trends and consider appropriately in planning/business development activities is required. A solid understanding of healthcare planning resources (e.g. SG2, Truven, etc) and other key data sources/methodologies for accessing/gathering/interpreting information relevant to trending, feasibility, financial and growth studies in support of the development of service line strategic plans and other system-related initiatives is also required.


Qualifications

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or healthcare administration, planning or other related discipline, and four years of related work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite Job Knowledge/Skills.
  • Equivalent additional qualifying work experience may be substituted for up to two years of the education requirement.
  • Master’s degree in business or healthcare Administration or other related discipline may be substituted for two years of the work experience requirement.
