The posted compensation range of $23.90 - $34.79 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Patient Access Representative, you will manage administrative duties for the patient intake process in our clinic, adhering to established guidelines.
Every day you will interact with patients in person and by phone, facilitating check-in/out, collecting data and payments, validating insurance, scheduling appointments, and processing referrals and authorizations.
To be successful, you will demonstrate critical thinking, strong customer service, and knowledge of insurance, billing, and medical terminology, ensuring a seamless, high-quality patient intake experience.
- Registration & Data Entry: Manage patient check-in by verifying demographics and insurance, ensuring compliance with registration guidelines, and uploading all documentation into the EMR.
- Financial & Cash Management: Collect co-pays and fees, enter non-clinical charges (e.g., forms, attorney fees), and perform daily cash drawer reconciliation and closing procedures.
- Insurance & Authorization: Verify insurance eligibility, secure pre-authorizations for procedures and referrals, and manage associated work queues to resolve errors.
- Patient Education: Serve as a point of contact for billing and insurance inquiries, providing cost estimates and explaining coverage policies to patients and staff.
- Referral Coordination: Manage the end-to-end referral process, including physician notification for denials and coordinating diagnostic, therapy, and specialty care appointments.
- Scheduling & Follow-Up: Manage multi-provider scheduling, confirm upcoming appointments, and perform outreach for missed visits to document no-shows and ensure continuity of care.
Required
- One year of customer service work experience and
- None, upon hire
Preferred
- Two years of customer service work experience and
- Healthcare or Call Center experience
