Responsibilities
The Chief Medical Officer, Physician Enterprise, NW (CMO - PE NW) is a senior level leadership position with important market responsibilities. The Chief Medical Officer, Physician Enterprise, NW is a Medical Group CMO (MGCMO) who also has additional responsibilities for the local market. The Chief Medical Officer, Physician Enterprise, NW primary responsibilities are at the market and local level and the individual reports directly ("solid line") to their System Senior Vice President, Physician Enterprise Operations – Northwest Region. The role has a dyad relationship with President, Physician Enterprise Northwest Market and together they are accountable to the System Senior Vice President, Physician Enterprise Operations – Northwest Region to provide support around clinical initiatives.
Essential Functions:
- The local responsibilities as the Medical Group CMO (MGCMO) - PE NW include quality, patient safety, patient experience, physician and APP engagement, physician and APP recruitment, clinical efficiency, utilization management and medical staff relationships within the physician enterprise.
- Responsible for maintaining strong, positive relationships with physicians and APPs in the Physician Enterprise.
- Consistent with CommonSpirit and Physician Enterprise priorities - plans and implements initiatives which support growth and a competitive advantage for the Physician Enterprise.
- Leads/supports development of Physician Enterprise quality initiatives and other programs to continually improve cost effectiveness and quality of services and patient and customer satisfaction.
The MGCMO works with the SVP and Market President to set strategic direction and increase the competitive position for the market.
The MGCMO also partners with colleagues in Physician Enterprise in developing physician networks, strengthening market integrity, and expanding non-acute care services.
Works with Physician Enterprise Senior Leadership team in developing short- and long-range business plans for Physician Enterprise. - Collaborates with Medical Leadership to improve the operations of their assigned Physician Enterprise, including strategic planning, service excellence, physician relations, quality assurance, mission integration and other operational strategies.
- The MGCMO will have as direct reports the four department chairs: Primary Care, Medicine, Surgery and Core Clinical Specialities. These are newly created roles that will represent the integration of the medical group leadership into a single, unified structure.
- The MGCMO collaborates closely with the RCMO particularly around quality, safety and patient experience.
Qualifications
Education / License & Certification
- Advanced degree in business, medical or healthcare management
- MD or DO - Licensed or ability to become licensed in Washington State
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of CMO experience or a comparable, formal senior leadership role
