The posted compensation range of $28.55 - $43.46 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Gastro Clinic LPN, you will provide essential nursing care and dedicated support to patients within our gastroenterology clinic, ensuring efficient operations and compassionate patient experiences.
Every day you will expertly assist physicians during examinations and procedures, administer medications, educate patients on gastrointestinal conditions and treatments, and meticulously document patient information and care provided.
To be successful, you will demonstrate outstanding clinical skills, strong communication abilities, and a patient, detail-oriented demeanor, contributing to optimal patient flow and high-quality care in gastroenterology.
- Provides pre-admit practical nursing care by telephone, within scope of LPN licensure, to patients referred to the GI clinic.
- Interviews patients to make an initial assessment and completes appropriate nursing documentation.
- Collects appropriate information such as, weight, drug allergies, current medications and presenting problems.
- Triages patients and communicates urgent patient needs to the licensed provider.
- Assists physician in patient assessment process of procedures and treatments.
- Recognizes urgent/emergent situations and refers them to a physician and/or Clinic Manager as appropriate.
- Observes, reports and documents general and specific physical signs and symptoms indicative of change in patient’s condition in accordance with established procedures and standards of care; recognizes implications of change, takes appropriate action within designated scope of responsibility and reports to clinical practitioner.
- Assesses patient/family needs and consults with appropriate provider, or Mid-Level Provider to relay information and to coordinate an appropriate plan of care.
- Documents, in a timely, thorough and accurate manner, nursing care and patient status in medical record in accordance with FMG procedures and standards of care.
- Monitors patient medical records for completeness, initiation of care plan/problem lists, and procedure reports necessary for ongoing care; advises clinical practitioner as appropriate to ensure proper care is provided and that documentation is timely and accurate.
- Provides patient education and encourages patients’ compliance and provides preventative care measures congruent with health status.
- Reviews pre-admit information (after patient has been seen by Physician/Mid-Level Provider) and assists patients with respect to any pre-admit needs.
- Evaluates patient’s response to patient education.
Job Requirements
Required
- Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program (or equivalent recognized military training) and one year of related work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities, upon hire and
- Licensed Practical Nurse: WA, upon hire and
- Basic Life Support - BLS CPR issued by the American Heart Association, upon hire and
Preferred
- One year of related work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities, in a medical clinic or acute care healthcare environment
