St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, WA, is seeking an exceptional Day Shift 1.0 CT Tech Lead to join our dedicated imaging department.

What You'll Do as a CT Tech Lead:

In this leadership role, you'll be at the forefront of our CT imaging services, blending your technical prowess with your ability to guide and inspire. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Expertly Operating CT Equipment: Utilizing state-of-the-art CT scanners (including General Electric models and workstations) to produce precise images of patients' internal organs and tissues, adhering strictly to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Patient-Centered Care: Interpreting physician's scanning instructions, administering contrast materials with precision, and meticulously positioning patients to capture the clearest, most diagnostic images. You will provide basic patient care, ensuring comfort and responding adeptly to emergency situations.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Guiding and supporting your team in delivering exceptional patient care and maintaining high operational standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Performing thorough Quality Assurance audits and activities as assigned, ensuring the highest standards of imaging quality and patient safety.
  • Documentation & Administration: Accurately and timely submitting imaging results, comprehensive patient history documentation, and precise case charging. You'll also handle incidental office duties to maintain complete patient records, including entering data and recording exam codes/supplies.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensuring the proper use of ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, consistently adhering to formal protocols, and providing patient protection from radiation sources by utilizing appropriate procedures and accessories. You will consult protocol manuals to minimize unnecessary exposure and keep patient doses as low as reasonably achievable.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Acting as a vital liaison between patients and radiologists, consulting with nursing staff regarding changes in patient conditions, and documenting patient care notes in charts.
  • Continuous Improvement: Keeping current with CHI Franciscan Health (CHI-FH) standards, protocols, and procedures related to CT functions, actively seeking continuing education opportunities through department meetings, individualized learning, and relevant classes.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrating proper use of communication tools/materials for effective communication and understanding how the culture(s) of patient populations can affect communication, collaboration, and the provision of care, treatment, and services. You will also demonstrate knowledge and proper skills associated with the department’s defined specific populations served.

Job Requirements

What We're Looking For:

    • Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Radiological Technology, including coursework in cross-sectional anatomy and/or demonstrated skill/knowledge in cross-sectional anatomy.
    • Experience: One year of work experience in the senior level of the core job family, or any combination of experience or education that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this leadership position.
  • Licensure/Certifications:
    • Registered Technologist Radiography (ARRT (RTR))
    • Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR)
    • Medical Radiographer: WA (MRAD:WA)
  • Skills: Exceptional technical skills in CT imaging, strong leadership qualities, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to patient safety and satisfaction.
