Job Summary and Responsibilities

Serves as the primary resource for the clinical staff of the assigned work unit(s) to procure supplies/equipment needed for patient care.Facilitates overall unit maintenance and environmental safety/compliance to ensure regulatory compliance. An employee works independently and is expected to deliver on a wide variety of requests, using all available avenues to achieve the desired result. If assigned to a specialty unit, work requires knowledge of (or ability to learn) specialty practices.

  • Assures equipment is clean, functioning properly, and at the appropriate location.

  • Makes scheduled surveillance rounds of the assigned work unit(s) to monitor adherence to environmental safety, cleanliness, infection control, risk management and related standards, procedures, and/or regulatory requirements; takes necessary steps to resolve issues (within defined scope of responsibility) in accordance with established procedures.

  • Represents the assigned work unit(s) at committees and/or meetings to keep abreast of general issues, communicates work unit specific information and receives new/revised standards/procedures/protocols.

  • Participates in new hire training/orientation and in-servicing of current staff.

  • Provides input into the development of the supply and equipment budget. Participates in the implementation and monitoring of the budget.

  • Maintains an organized and safe work and patient environment, adhering to the hospital’s safety, risk management, regulatory standards and infection prevention. Keeps abreast of trends, developments and regulatory requirements impacting matters within designated scope of responsibility.

  • Participates in quality assurance/improvement initiatives and activities. Participates in growth opportunities.


Job Requirements

Education / Licensure Requirement

  • Associates / Health Sciences or related field upon hire and two years of recent related clinical support (or equivalent) work experience required, OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position and two years of recent related clinical support (or equivalent) work experience, preferably within the assigned clinical specialty area.
