Operating Engineer I
The posted compensation range of $20.71 - $28.48 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Responsibilities
Repairs, Maintains, and Operates HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems in a manner consistent with a first‐class healthcare facility while maintaining a positive work attitude.
ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Designs training programs including personal development, safety education, and technical advancement, and also Maintains a superior attitude toward professional development.
2. Directs staff to operate HVAC equipment including but not limited to boilers, chillers, air handler units, and computerized environmental control system.
3. Maintains project HVAC equipment including but not limited to boilers, chillers, air handler units, and computerized environmental control system.
4. Leads the operation of plant.
5. Operates, Maintains, and Participates in the testing of project life/safety systems including emergency power, sprinkler, fire alarm, and specialty medical alarm systems.
6. Responds to and resolves tenant house call needs in a timely fashion including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and miscellaneous requests.
7. Analyzes special projects presented by property management and the leader including but not limited to tenant construction, cost savings proposals, and manpower development needs.
8. Completes assigned sections of the property operating budget under supervision of the leader. Organizes vendor quotations and project expenditures for the budget year.
9. Assists the leader with staff development by directing and guiding the rest of the operations staff on special projects and supervising routine tasks.
10. Participates in "on‐call" rotation after hours and rotating weekend duty.
11. Monitors and makes changes to water treatment program.
12. Leads engineers as needed.
13. Makes decisions to maximize the efficiency of plant operations.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED
- State of Texas or equivalent Stationary Engineers License (SE)
- Five (5) year of related work experience
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Computer literate.
- Must have ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Physical abilities; such as lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing, and squatting.
- Extensive knowledge of plant operations.
