Surgery Assistant / OB Tech
The posted compensation range of $37.42 - $42.38 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
Performs routine patient care activities and related non-professional services in the care of the sub- acute, acute, and critically ill patient undergoing cesarean and vaginal deliveries. The OB Tech works under the direction of a registered nurse. This position treats/cares for patients of all ages. Demonstrates proficiency in scrubbing, gowning, gloving and holding retractors under the direct supervision of the surgeon during the intra-operative phase of Cesarean Sections and like procedures. This position assists the anesthesiologist as needed with Room Support duties and is responsible for the turnover of OR's and LDR's. Assists RN's with patient care during deliveries including gathering of items needed for patient care, aseptic set-up of delivery tables and replenishing/ maintaining par levels of supplies in the L/D areas. This position includes duties to maintain the charts and perform secretarial duties in the Maternal Child area including scheduling appointments and entering charges. This
position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. - Identifies and defines major functions of the department/unit.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the role of scrub technician.
- Supports clinical practice standards.
- Provides assistance to nursing and attendant personnel.
- Follows appropriate procedures for entering patient charges.
- Provides assistance in the Maternity/OR and LDR's.
Job Requirements
Required
- Six months surgical tech experience
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support
Preferred
- High School Graduate or GED
- Successful completion of an Operating Room Technician training course which covers basic standards of practice and experience
- One year of surgical tech experience
