Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Respiraory Care Practitioner, you will provide optimum respiratory care for patients of all ages with respiratory disorders, performing therapy as ordered by physicians in strict accordance with current departmental policies.

Every day, you will administer expert respiratory care, contributing directly to patient well-being. You will maintain departmental productivity by actively monitoring workloads throughout your shift, ensuring efficient service delivery. Additionally, you may act as a relief shift supervisor when required. This role demands your full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization, demonstrating behavior consistent with our Core Values, and supporting the Organization's strategic plan and Performance Improvement Plan.

To be successful in this role, you will have exceptional clinical skills in respiratory therapy, a deep understanding of patient care needs across all age groups, and a proactive approach to workload management and departmental productivity. Your consistent delivery of high-quality care, adherence to policies, and steadfast commitment to the organization's mission and values will be paramount in promoting positive patient outcomes.

  • Assures that the rights of the patient/family are respected and maintained.
  • Allows for privacy and modesty in the provision of care.
  • Identifies self by name and title to patient/family.
  • Determines presence/type of Advanced Directive.
  • Reports suspected cases of abuse/neglect, if identified.
  • Understands role of, and how to access, the Bioethics Committee.
Job Requirements

Required

  • Graduate of a two year American Medical Association approved Respiratory Therapy Program. The therapist must have passed the written Registry Examination and the clinical simulation exam provided by the NBRC and received their RRT credential, upon hire and
  • Completed internship in acute care facility including NICU and infant deliveries. Position will be required to supervise and have the ability to work in all critical areas including the NICU.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner: CA
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days 
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist


Preferred

  • 1-3 years Worked in acute care 1-2 yearsExperience with nitric oxide use in theNICU preferred but will train., upon hire and
  • Experiencein intubations (adult, pediatric and infant),arterial puncture, arterial line draws, highfrequency ventilation preferred but willtrain., upon hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire and
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program, upon hire and
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support, upon hire and
  • Stable Program, upon hire
