The posted compensation range of $32.63 - $36.60 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Patient Care Tech, you will help Registered Nurses and patients at St. Joseph's Medical Center's Medical/Surgical Acute 2S department by providing essential patient care supportive services and facilitating department clerical responsibilities so they can deliver safe, quality care and maintain efficient unit operations.
Every day you will perform a variety of technical procedures within your scope of practice, including patient care (ADL's, mobility, I&O) and operating hospital equipment. You will be expected to document accurately and timely using computerized systems, manage clerical tasks, handle communications effectively via multiple phone and intercom lines, and report any abnormal changes in patient condition.
To be successful in this role, you must possess strong clerical, technical, and organizational skills, including proficiency in Health Information Systems, excellent communication abilities using medical terminology, and a commitment to self-directed learning and continuous professional development.
- Competent and proficient in Health Information Systems, supply ordering and departmental data/reports.
- Includes care of patient drains, tubes, special equipment, ADL's, mobility, Hospital Information System proficiency, I & O, response in emergency.
- Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures. Proficient and competent with the computerized documentation system.
- Communicates clearly and effectively using proper communication etiquette and manages multiple phone and intercom lines.
- Includes reporting abnormal or change in patient condition to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
- Accountable for self-directed learning and participation in continuing education to meet own professional development
Required
6 months experience, within last 3 years in a acute care hospital setting, or healthcare clinic, skilled nursing facility, or home health setting as a Care or Nurse Assistant, medical assistant or nursing, student with one semester in clinical setting, or complete hospital patient care training.
