The posted compensation range of $31.07 - $34.86 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Patient Care Technician (PCT), you will deliver essential direct patient care under the supervision of our clinical team. Leveraging your knowledge of basic patient care principles and medical terminology, you will perform a range of daily duties.
Every day you will actively assist patients with personal care, mobility, and feeding, monitoring vital signs, documenting observations, and maintaining a therapeutic and organized patient environment. You will also work closely with the nursing team to prepare patients for procedures or transport.
To be successful in this role requires a genuine passion for patient well-being, diligence in executing tasks, keen observational skills regarding patient conditions, and a proactive approach to continuous learning and professional development.
- Clerical Skills: Competent and proficient in Health Information Systems, supply ordering and departmental data/reports.
- Technical Skills: Competent in psychomotor skills and technical procedures within scope of practice. Includes care of patient drains, tubes, special equipment, ADL's, mobility, Hospital Information System proficiency, I & O, response in emergency.
- Documentation: Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures. Proficient and competent with the computerized documentation system.
- Organizational Skills: Uses appropriate organization, priority setting and problem solving skills.
- Communication: Communicates clearly and effectively using proper communication etiquette and manages multiple phone and intercom lines. Uses medical terminology accurately. Includes reporting abnormal or change in patient condition to appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Maintains confidentiality.
- Self Development: Accountable for self-directed learning and participation in continuing education to meet own professional development. Completes mandatory education timely.
Job Requirements
Required:
6 months experience, within the last 3 years, in an acute care hospital setting, healthcare clinic, skilled nursing facility, or home health setting as a Care Assistant or Nurse Assistant, medical assistant or nursing student with one semester in clinical setting, or complete hospital patient care training.
AHA BLS
- Basic computer skills/keyboarding/ Medical terminology course or equivalent knowledge
Preferred:
- CA Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license
- Google products; Microsoft Office Cerner/MS4
