Job Summary and Responsibilities

Receives and processes incoming supplies and equipment, performs cleaning and sterilization duties, prepares packs of supplies, linen and instruments in Central Processing. Assists the Assistant Manager, Central Service Processing/Laundry-Linen. Assists with hiring, training and evaluating all processing personnel. Ensures that the Medical Center has efficient and effective medical supplies/equipment, which provides timely responsive delivery service to end-user departments. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the Organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).

  • Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform tasks and procedures according to Medical Center policy and procedure.
  • Maintains established Departmental Policies and Procedures, Objectives, Quality Assurance Program, Safety, Environmental and Infection control Standards. Accumulates and processes data as required for record keeping purposes to form the monthly report.
  • Cleans, decontaminates, assembles, wraps and sterilizes instruments, supplies and equipment according to established policies and Procedures. Handles and stores instruments, equipment and supplies appropriately.
  • Performs biological and chemical monitoring in accordance with JCAHO, State and Federal Regulations and with Medical Center Policies and Procedures.
  • Distributes supplies and equipment to units in a timely fashion.
  • Participates in Educational Programs and in-service meeting. Attends all departmental meetings as required.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Minimum four (4) years' experience in hospital warehousing, distribution and inventory control
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience working with and directing the application of Materiels Management Inventory Computer System
  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Tech
