The posted compensation range of $38.54 - $56.10 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Sterile Processing Supervisor, you will lead daily Sterile Processing Department operations for safe, timely, compliant cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of instruments and equipment.
Every day you will supervise SPD staff, maintain regulatory compliance, collaborate with Perioperative Services, procedural departments, and vendors, keep infection risk low by monitoring every phase of reprocessing, and oversee instrument inventory and tracking technology.

- This job is responsible for the daily leadership, coordination, and oversight of the Sterile Processing Department operations to ensure the safe, timely, and compliant cleaning decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- This position supervises SPD staff, maintains regulatory compliance with hospital policies and industry standards, and collaborates closely with Perioperative Services, procedural departments, and vendors to support high-quality patient care. Work is strongly focused on identifying/ensuring customer/patient satisfaction through timely and effective infection control processes, sterility assurance and product availability and an incumbent is accountable for keeping potential risk for infection at a minimum by monitoring all phases of reprocessing devices and reusable equipment.
- Work includes: 1) overseeing instrument inventory management, including maintenance/use of associated technology/automated systems for instrument management, tracking and reporting; 2) ensuring optimum staffing levels for all shifts; 3) supervising staff performing work in support of the functions of the department, including addressing performance management issues; 4) participating in vendor/contract management; 5) troubleshooting/resolving issues escalated to first-level management.
- Work requires advanced knowledge of surgical instruments and power systems, and the standards, processes and equipment relating to decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments, trays, equipment. Also requires knowledge of current science-based literature/methodologies for infection control, instrument maintenance, sterilization, disinfection and management.
- An incumbent will apply standards relating to employee supervision, human relations and continuous performance improvement, safety/risk management and quality/expense control in the overall coordination and supervision of the assigned functions.
Required:
- Graduation from an accredited CS Technician course
- High School Diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Certified and Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or
- Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Supervisor (CSPDS)
Preferred:
- Four years of progressively responsible related work experience
