Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an Occupational Therapist, you will help patients regain independence and quality of life so they can safely perform daily activities.

Every day you will assess diverse patients (orthopedic, neurological, sensory, cancer recovery, etc.), develop treatment plans, and conduct evaluations/re-evaluations. You will be expected to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, document thoroughly, and provide positive, motivating care to a high volume of patients.

To be successful in this role, you must be flexible, adaptable, exceptionally organized, and a personable, motivating team player.

  • Performs patient assessment/data collection, interprets findings and formulates treatment plans.
  • Implements and updates therapeutic plan of care and treatment based on patient needs throughout patient’s treatment/stay.
  • Completes all required documentation, in an accurate and thorough manner, of Occupational Therapy treatment in accordance with FHS documentation standard.
  • Cultural Sensitivity and Competence: Demonstrates proper use of communication tools/materials for effective communication and understands how the culture(s) of patient populations can affect communication, collaboration and the provision of care, treatment and services. Patient Population Served: Demonstrates knowledge and proper skills associated with the department’s defined specific populations served.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy and completion of Clinical Fieldwork and at least three (3) months prior experience in physical disabilities and a broad base of medical surgical knowledge, with case experience with the following: neurological impairments, orthopedic impairments, and critical care that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities. , upon hire and
  • Current Washington State License in Occupational Therapy or a Washington State Interim Permit (valid for a maximum of 6 months unless an extension is approved by the Department Director).
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
  • Injured worker rehab program: Two (2) years full-time experience within last five years, with caseload emphasis on physical disabilities, especially treatment of the subacute injured workers with return to work needs (i.e., Physical Capacity Evaluation, Work Conditioning).
  • Lymphedema OT: Two (2) years full-time experience within last five years recommended, with caseload emphasis acute physical disabilities, especially in the treatment of lymphedema. 

Preferred

  • Pain management program: Two (2) years full-time experience within last five years, with caseload emphasis on physical disabilities, injured worker care, or pain management and

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
