Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY:
This is entry-level of the job family, involving general clerical/office work of limited scope which can typically be learned
on the job and which calls for minimal previous office experience or training. An incumbent is trained on the job to use
basic general office support equipment and skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Answers telephone to respond to general inquiries concerning department activities and operations by referencing
established procedures manual; routes calls to appropriate person.
Greets patients and visitors and directs to proper destination; makes arrangements for escort services as
required.
Answers routine questions in their entirety or refers to appropriate party.
Monitors/orders/rotates office supplies or equipment; collates and assembles documents and materials; accepts
and delivers inter-department correspondence and photocopying/faxing correspondence and reports.
Collects, sorts and distributes incoming mail; gathers outgoing mail; prepares mail/packages for
overnight/expedited delivery; picks up and delivers documents, supplies or other department-specific materials.
Assembles packaged materials; cleans and restocks work areas or other locations.
Monitors restricted areas to ensure appropriate access.
May maintain inventory of office supplies and hospital forms utilized within the department.
Qualifications
Education/Work Experience Requirements:
Any combination of experience, education or training that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge
skills/abilities. Previous PC training/experience is preferred.
