The posted compensation range of $15.67 - $22.14 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Food-Nutrition Receiving Clerk, you will perform functions necessary to procure, organize, and store food, supplies, and cleaning chemicals for Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) daily operations.
Every day you will maintain knowledge in food safety, food allergens, therapeutic diets, and an understanding of applicable local, state, and federal regulations. You will distribute food throughout the facility and to offsite locations as needed, and maintain an organized and sanitary Emergency Food Area with adequate emergency food supplies to meet regulations.
To be successful in this role, you will meticulously manage inventory, ensure food safety compliance, and efficiently distribute all necessary items, directly contributing to the smooth and safe operation of our Food and Nutrition Services.
- Assists with setting and maintaining par levels for all items required for FNS operations, adjusting as necessary based on census and usage. Reads recipes and orders correct quantities based on recipe needs. Under guidance from the FNS management team and in collaboration with nursing managers/directors, sets and maintains par levels for food and supplies in patient nourishment areas.
- Creates and updates department order guide. Communicates with department vendors, members of the FNS staff and management team, concerning items of need and any potential supply chain issues requiring substitutions. Collaborates with the FNS management team on adhering to department budgets.
- Completes a thorough physical inventory of food, supplies, and cleaning chemicals prior to placing each order. Orders sufficient amounts of food, supplies, and cleaning chemicals in alignment with established par levels, avoiding overages and shortages, in compliance with all contracts, guidelines and requirements pertaining to purchasing. Chooses substitute food, supply, and cleaning chemical options in alignment with allergen and nutrient needs and in equivalence to original items.
- Receives deliveries, checking accuracy, appropriate delivery temperatures and condition/damages. Take appropriate action if there are discrepancies, missing item(s), or issues with product quality. Properly stores all products, following HACCP plan and maintaining regulatory compliance while utilizing the FIFO (first in, first out) method.
- Maintains all storage areas (e.g. dry storage area, refrigerators, freezers, chemical room/closet, patient nourishment areas) in a clean and organized state, meeting regulatory requirements and ensuring proper rotation of items. Assists in the removal of food items in the event of a recall or other food safety concern. Reports any needed repairs, safety hazards, and/or equipment/storage needs to the FNS management team. Completes facility work orders, as needed.
- Assists in delivering food and supplies to patient nourishment areas, throughout the facility, and/or to offsite locations, as needed.

- High School GED General Studies or equivalent combination of education and experience, upon hire or four (4) years of experience in foodservice
