Responsibilities

The Ultrasonographer I position provides diagnostic information to referring physicians using ultrasound as a diagnostic tool, as well as participates in the activities which occur because the Virginia Mason Ultrasound Department is a clinical training center for physicians, student interns and sonographers; and an evaluation site for new imaging devices being developed by major commercial vendors. Under the direction of the Ultrasound manager and/or Manager at a Regional Medical Center, coordinate the daily operations to ensure appropriate quality care and service for patients.

Qualifications

Ultrasonographer I position requires:
1) Graduation from an ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP); and
2) Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the specialty area of Abdomen or OB/Gyn ultrasound.

Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) is required within the first year of employment.

Preferred: A one-year clinical internship and a four-year college degree, concentration in ultrasound.
