Responsibilities

The Supervisor – Sterile Processing (SPD) assists the Sterile Processing Manager with general supervision, planning, managing, and evaluating support of the daily operations of the Sterile Processing department in accordance with established internal policies/standards and applicable regulatory requirements. The work is strongly focused on customer satisfaction through timely and effective infection control processes. This includes; but is not limited to, sterility assurance, product availability and accountability for keeping potential risk for infection at a minimum by strictly monitoring of all phases of reprocessing devices an reusable equipment. In the absence of the manager, the supervisor has oversight of department operations.

Qualifications

Required:
Associates degree or 3 years’ progressive experience as Sterile Processing Technician, or Surgical Technologist including instrument sterilization and processing.

3 years related experience of progress responsibility in, sterile processing and/or surgical technology in Operating Rooms related to sterilization and decontamination of instruments and equipment.

Preferred:
Specialized and/or technical training from technical school for Surgical Technology, Sterile Processing Technician.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to common inquiries or complaints from groups of managers.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, database management.

Licensure/Certification
· Current certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) at hire, or within one year of date of hire, is required.
· Possession of SPD Supervisor or SPD Manager certification is preferred.
· Current healthcare provider BLS certification.

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.  This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health Compliance requirements.
