Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Cath Lab provides direct patient care to a diverse population undergoing a variety of cardiac catheterization procedures. The RN collaborates with physicians, other nurses, and technicians to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of high-quality patient care. This role requires strong critical thinking skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares patients for cardiac catheterization procedures, including obtaining informed consent, assessing vital signs, and administering medications as ordered.
- Assists the physician during the procedure, including monitoring hemodynamic parameters, preparing equipment, and managing supplies.
- Provides post-procedure care, including monitoring vital signs, assessing for complications, and administering medications.
- Maintains a sterile field and adheres to strict infection control protocols.
- Operates and monitors specialized equipment, including hemodynamic monitoring systems, fluoroscopy, and other related technologies.
- Administers medications and intravenous fluids as ordered.
- Documents patient care accurately and completely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives and contributes to the development of departmental policies and procedures.
- Responds effectively to emergency situations and provides critical care as needed.
- Collaborates effectively with other members of the healthcare team.
- Maintains current knowledge of cardiac catheterization procedures and related technologies.
- Participates in continuing education and professional development activities.
- Adheres to all hospital policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
We require:
-Current WA State RN license is required.
- 1 or more years recent RN experience with acute care patients.
- CPR certification is required every two years or as specified by the work.
- Other certifications may be required for specialty areas.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing approved by the Washington State Board of Nursing.
Preferred Qualifications: ACLS preferred.
