Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Retail Pharmacy Technician, you will be vital in managing the technical duties in the pharmacy to allow the pharmacist to pursue the clinical areas of pharmacy practice and ensure that optimal patient care is provided. This multifaceted role ensures the efficient, accurate, and safe handling of medications across various inpatient and technical functions within our health system.
Every day, you will meticulously perform a range of essential tasks, including servicing automated dispensing cabinets, ensuring accurate inventory and functionality. You will be responsible for pre-packing medications and delivering medications to nursing units, maintaining timely and safe distribution. A key responsibility will be preparing non-sterile medications, including hazardous drugs, adhering strictly to safety protocols and compounding guidelines.

You should proactively contribute to an efficient workflow, demonstrate excellent communication, and continuously strive to enhance patient care through diligent and accurate technical support.
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Registered Pharmacy Tech in the state in which the employee works as required by state law
Knowledge of the standards, techniques and tools relating to pharmaceutical patient care
Knowledge of the regulatory requirements applicable to pharmaceutical patient care
Knowledge of mathematical functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, basic algebra and calculations
Ability to mix oral powders and compounded drugs if allowed by state law
Ability to use office equipment and automated systems/applications/software at an acceptable level
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the duties of the position
Preferred
- One year of retail pharmacy experience or equivalent
