Responsibilities

Perform all responsibilities of the Patient Care Technician role:


· Activities of Daily Living (bathing, grooming, feeding, basic hygiene)
· Basic nursing care activities (vital signs, observation and reporting of signs and symptoms of diseasestate, postural blood pressure, simple dressing changes)
· Assist in patient mobility (ambulate, turn, position, range of motion)
· Perform EKGs (unit specific requirement)
· Bedside testing (blood glucose, colon screening, dextrose secretions, specific gravity)
· Respiratory care (encouraging incentive spirometry, positioning, maintaining humidification of oxygencontainers, maintaining nebulizer equipment integrity, performing oxygen saturation checks)

Perform all responsibilities of the Patient Flow Coordinator:


· Coordinates unit by greeting patients and visitors, triaging phone calls, maintaining current informationon locator boards; communicates scheduled tests and procedures for patients.
· Processes patients’ charts upon admission and discharge.
· May assist with medication reconciliation upon admission.
· May process medication calendars and micromedix for discharge portfolios.
· Coordinates and maintains nursing unit supplies; monitors patient confidentiality; maintains a hazard-free work environment.
· As appropriate, responds to patient/visitor requests and complaints; escalates requests/complaints to theappropriate staff as necessary.
· Ensures correct patient type and accommodation codes on daily basis on all patients.
· Assists MSW with patient handoff to outside facilities upon discharge, including processing ofinformation to receiving facility.
· Assists with patient care/bed placement assignments.
· Assists Unit Manager with clerical responsibilities.


Qualifications

We require:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant (or military medical specialty training) program OR Licensed Practical Nursing program required.
  • Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (or active NA-R and proof of passing the WA NA-C exam) or LPN with the Washington State Nursing Commission.
  • Current healthcare provider American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Basic skills in using a PC required.
  • Must be able to lift, move or assist patients using proper body mechanics. The ability to occasionally lift or push up to 50 lbs. and pull up to 100 lbs. is also required.
  • Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.  This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
