Job Summary and Responsibilities

Are you attending an ADN or BSN program in another area but call Seattle home? Are you a local student but not able to work during this school year? This might be an ideal role for you to consider.
This program is designed to increase student's clinical skills, judgment and critical thinking. One to one mentor relationships with a registered nurse will help build confidence in the science and art of nursing. The Nurse Technician position is a role for nursing students, designed to increase their clinical skills, judgment and critical thinking while enrolled in a nursing program. Nursing students working as Nurse Technicians will be able to connect with Virginia Mason Medical Center, a premier healthcare organization, to assess feasibility of employment post-graduation and will have an opportunity to work alongside members of the healthcare team and move into a Registered Nurse position after graduation.
The Nurse Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of an RN, assists patients with activities of daily living, changes dressings, performs urinary catheterization and other treatments and procedures in accordance with formal training received through their nursing degree program.
Job Requirements
We require:
- Current enrollment in a Registered Nurse Associate's or Bachelor's of Science Degree Program
- Completion of a clinical component required
- Licensure as a Nursing Technician-Registered by the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) required before beginning employment
