Responsibilities

The Nursing Technician I - Registered:   provides direct patient care under the supervision of an RN.

  1. Gathers information about the patient, and administers and documents nursing care including taking vital signs, and observing signs and symptoms of disease/illness.
  2. Assists patients in activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, eating, basic hygiene and mobility (ambulating, turning, positioning and range of motion).
  3. Completes bedside testing of blood glucose monitoring, Hemocult screening, specific gravity and other procedures.
  4. Changes dressings, performs urinary catheterization and other treatments and procedures in accordance with formal training received through the Nursing degree program, as delegated by the RN.

Qualifications

Current enrollment in a Registered Nurse Bachelor of Science Degree Program or a Registered Nurse Associate Degree Program, with completion of at least one clinical component, required.

Licensure as a Nursing Technician-Registered by the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) required before beginning employment.
