Responsibilities
The Medical Technologist in Point of Care Coordinator is responsible for the regulatory oversight and monitoring of all point of care (POC) laboratory test sites in the hospital or ambulatory setting. An incumbent will coordinate all POC testing and clinical laboratory improvement amendments (CLIA) licensure, develop training and competency programs, provide ongoing
technical guidance and feedback covering the pre-analytical, analytical, and post analytical areas of laboratory medicine to personnel performing POC testing.
The position requires traveling to multiple testing sites within hospital or ambulatory settings, and the ability to effectively communicate with and train non-laboratory staff which may include physicians, nurses, and medical assistants.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in laboratory medical technology or a chemical/physical/biological or other life science, completion of an accredited MT program and four years of related laboratory work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities. International education will be evaluated for equivalency.
National MT certification with ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or Certification with the US. Department of Health and Human Services as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist; OR MLT certification with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in a chemical/physical/biological or other life science.
