Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will be instrumental in delivering accurate and timely diagnostic results that directly impact patient care. You will perform a diverse range of complex laboratory tests, ensuring the highest standards of quality, precision, and efficiency, and contribute significantly to critical healthcare decisions within our state-of-the-art facility.

Every day you will analyze biological specimens using advanced instrumentation and manual techniques across various disciplines, including Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Immunohematology. You will meticulously interpret and validate test results, ensuring their accuracy and correlation with clinical data, and diligently troubleshoot equipment and resolve technical issues to maintain continuous laboratory operations.

To be successful in this role, you will apply your in-depth knowledge of laboratory medicine to recognize abnormal results and critical values, promptly communicating findings to physicians and healthcare teams. Your commitment to continuous learning and professional development will be key as you maintain your ASCP certification and adapt to evolving laboratory technologies and methodologies.

  • Diagnostic Testing: Perform waived, moderately, and highly complex laboratory tests while adhering to Standard Operating Procedures to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Execute rigorous calibration, quality control, and proficiency testing to maintain accuracy and full adherence to all regulatory requirements.
  • Technical Operations: Manage major automated equipment through routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and vendor coordination, while assisting in the validation of new procedures and technology.
  • Clinical Excellence: Provide high-quality patient care by correlating clinical results, identifying testing trends, and ensuring the immediate communication of critical values to medical staff.
  • Operational Support: Maintain efficient laboratory workflow by managing supply inventory, resolving issues before shift transitions, and contributing to the training of staff and students.
  • Professional Engagement: Represent the organization with professionalism and "HumanKindness" in all communications while actively pursuing continuing education to enhance technical proficiency.
Job Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA

  • Required Licensure and Certifications:

    • California: CLS:CA

    • Nevada: CLS:NV or GS:NV

    • North Dakota: MT-L:ND

    • Tennessee: MT-L:TN or MT ASCP or equivalent certification 

    • Georgia: MT ASCP or equivalent certification 

    • Other state license not required

  • Must be appropriately trained in clinical laboratory science as evaluated by the Director of the Clinical Laboratory

Preferred

  • MLS (ASCP) or equivalent
