Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining superior levels of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the facility. This includes:

  • Performing assigned daily cleaning and disinfection of all patient care areas (occupied, discharge, and transfer), medical equipment, and communal spaces.
  • Exhibiting a comprehensive understanding of healthcare cleaning and disinfection protocols, including the safe operation of equipment and responsible chemical handling.
  • Rigorously adhering to all organizational guidelines pertaining to safety, risk management, and infection control, thereby fostering a secure operational environment.
  • Contributing actively to departmental performance improvement endeavors, particularly those aimed at elevating patient experience and cleanliness standards.
  • Diligent management of supplies, equipment, and waste disposal in strict compliance with established infection prevention and safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrating critical thinking and personal accountability when collaborating with colleagues to execute diverse facility tasks and address operational concerns.

  • High School diploma or GED preferred. Previous healthcare experience preferred
  • Job Knowledge/Abilities

Can distinguish the differences between levels of disinfection and perform low and intermediate level disinfection. 

·               Ability to explain orally or in writing the differences between levels of disinfection and perform intermediate level disinfection in areas where required.

·               Ability to operate necessary equipment/machines. 

·               Effectively uses computers and mobile devices. Respectfully listens to viewpoints and ideas of others. Communicates orally or in writing openly and candidly, creates an environment where co-workers and team members reciprocate in kind. Respectfully listens to viewpoints and ideas of others. Ability to work without close supervision
