Responsibilities
About This Position
In keeping with the Marian Medical Center health care philosophy, the Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse monitors, facilitates, evaluates, and provides care and teaching of patients with ostomies, dermal ulcers, fistula, and incontinence problems. Ensures follow-up of in-patients and counsels outpatients by physician referral. Performs specialized procedures within guidelines of specialization and under the physician's orders. Demonstrates effective teaching strategies for both patients and staff Demonstrates the ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently. Demonstrates clear, effective written and oral English skills, and objective, active listening skills Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others across all departments.
RN Selection Criteria
At least 1 year Enterostomal Therapy experience preferred. Acute hospital experience preferred. Graduation from an IAET-approved school of Enterostomal Therapy. Demonstrates proficiency in wound care and enterostomal nursing. Demonstrates the ability to appropriately delegate patient-care tasks related to wound care to other staff members. Current California Registered Nurse license. ET Certification preferred.
