Responsibilities

About This Position:

Respiratory Care procedures in the NICU in accordance with all quality and safety standards. Respiratory Care Practitioners have knowledge of pharmacy anatomy and physiology and make judgments in consultation with a physician and other members of the health care team with regard to the respiratory care that patients receive. Provides respiratory care to patients of all ages. Demonstrates proficient technical skills in the performance of respiratory therapies. Demonstrates a working knowledge of current trends in respiratory therapies; specialty technical standards equipment supplies; safety principles and practices. Demonstrates advanced and proficient technical skills in performance of respiratory therapies utilized in all patient care areas including critical care and or Nursery/L&D. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally. Demonstrates competency in all Technical Functions required of a NICU RT Demonstrates ability to work as part of a clinical team in dynamic or critical situations. Demonstrates ability to participate in the patients interdisciplinary plan of care and education. Establishes effective working relationships with other departments medical staff and co-workers.@DH


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in a Community or Regional NICU
  • Must be proficient in neonatal intubation delivery room attendance and resuscitations ventilatory management and infant transport
  • Credentials from the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist
  • Current CA license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (CT RCP)
  • Current CPR-AHA (CT CPRBLS)
  • Current NRP-AHA (CT NRP)

Preferred Requirements:

  • Registred Respiratory Therapist
  • STABLE
  • PALS
  • Neonatal Pediatric Specialist Certification from NBRC
