Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an L&D Scrub Tech, you will be a central figure supporting safe and efficient surgical procedures within our Labor and Delivery unit, meticulously preparing and maintaining a sterile field. You will play a vital role alongside the surgical team in ensuring the well-being of mothers and babies.

Every day, you will expertly set up the sterile operating room, meticulously organize instruments and supplies according to surgeon preference cards, and anticipate the needs of the surgical team during obstetric procedures. You will also assist in maintaining supplies, perform accurate surgical counts, and ensure strict adherence to aseptic technique and all safety protocols.

To be successful in this role, you will combine exceptional attention to detail, a strong understanding of surgical instrumentation and sterile procedures, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a compassionate approach, and a collaborative spirit, dedicated to supporting positive outcomes for mothers and newborns.

  • Demonstrates intermediate or advanced skills in operating room technology and proficient knowledge of surgical procedures (as described in the unit skills checklists). Measurement: Observation, Feedback.
  • Demonstrates basic patient care skills, including, but not limited to hygiene, takes vital signs, weights, accurately, measures I&O, documents appropriately on designated forms and in computer; lifts, moves and transports patients, safely and positions infants using developmentally supportive knowledge. Measurement: Observation, Feedback, Patient Care Documentation.
  • Consistently demonstrates the principles of aseptic technique according to policy and procedure guidelines. Measurement: Observation, Feedback.
  • Collects and delivers urine, stool and pathology specimens according to current procedures, utilizing universal precautions. Measurement: Observation, Feedback.
  • Consistently demonstrates proper care and handling of instruments and equipment. Measurement: Observation, Feedback, Equipment condition
  • Consistently stocks and maintains department supplies. Measurement: Observation, Inventory.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Graduate or GED Graduate and Acute care experience. Nurseassistants/unit clerks without acute careexperience within one (1) year, will be considered on an individual basis. A minimum of one (1)year recent hospital experience (or equivalent) in the capacityof: a) an Operating Room Technician,b)an OBScrub Tech, or c) an OB Tech; or must have all of the following: a) received practicaleducation within the Hospital/surgicalcenter or OB department within the last six(6) months,b) above average performance during practical education, and c) completion of aSurgicalTechnologist training program., upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire


Preferred

  • Successful completion of an ORTechnician Training program is highly desired. and Scrub technician experience desired. CNA Certificate Desired, upon hire
