Responsibilities
In keeping with the Marian Medical philosophy, the Billing Coordinator works as a team member in the Lab areas in billing and clerical tasks. Assumes responsibility and accountability in the administering of office/business operations for the agency. The major duties are as follows: Receives admission paperwork, validates patient information and physician orders for completeness and registers patients in MS4 information system. Ensures Medicare compliance documentation including ICD-10 diagnosis codes are included for Laboratory testing requested. Places orders in the Laboratory Information System appropriately. Properly labels incoming specimens after verifying accuracy of all patient identifiers and physician requisitions and contact information. Scans required documentation into EDM. Collaborates with Patient Access, client account representatives to ensure account documentation is accurate and complete.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with statistical and financial reports and accounting and bookkeeping methods.
- Experience and training in office systems and organization is required.
- Completion of a medical terminology class or equivalent work experience.
- Graduate of an Approved Business College with training in medical office management preferred.
- May substitute 5 years experience as a medical office billing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work tactfully and effectively with fellow staff members, physicians and patients.
- Ability to accurately perform and verify data entry at a moderate pace.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory testing requested.
- Ability to pay attention to detail during frequent interruptions.
- Ability to stay calm and positive in stressful situations.
