Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Sterile Processing Professional, you will be a critical guardian of patient safety, ensuring surgical teams receive correct, fully functional, and sterile instrumentation.
Every day, you will expertly perform decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and dispatch with efficiency, expertise, and accuracy, delivering instruments with resourcefulness, determination, courtesy, and professionalism. You will continuously expand your knowledge of standards and procedures for surgical instrumentation.
To be successful in this role, you will possess exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a rigorous commitment to infection control, ensuring optimal surgical outcomes with a professional demeanor.

- Makes regular pick-ups from all units of all contaminated equipment in a timely fashion.
- Keeps contaminated supplies and equipment properly covered when transporting
- Decontaminates equipment, instruments and all other reusable items.
- Uses PPE (personal protective equipment) Understands pathogen transference Cleans effectively / competently utilizing manufacturer's recommended practices
- No returned instruments for re-cleaning
- Utilizes ONE SOURCE documents to identify appropriate cleaning & sterilization /decontamination method
- Operates washer/decontaminator and ultrasonic machines.
- Understands proper loading techniques
- Checks machine chemical levels
- Knows who to contact when machines malfunction
- Performs high-level disinfectant usage, monitoring, and disposal. Monitors solution daily and checks outdate Proper use of neutralizer for disposal Follows spill procedures
- Assembles surgical instrument trays according to check off list.
- Reads and updates check off list as needed Notifies manager of missing instruments Removes / replaces broken instruments
- Clearly labels outside of container or wrapper if there are missing items
Job Requirements
Required
- Previous Sterile Processing Technician experience
- Completion of Sterile Processing Technician Training
Preferred
- 2-3 years of Sterile Processing Technician experience in an acute care hospital
