Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Pharmacy Tech, you'll help our patients feel better by providing safe and effective medications to them. You'll help our doctors and nurses feel better knowing that you are providing accurate and timely medication to patients.

Every day, you'll build trust by being extremely thorough and accurate at all times. Patient safety is your top priority, so you do everything you can to ensure all prescriptions are authentic, prepared correctly both in medication type and dosing, and are dispensed appropriately, under the Pharmacist's guidance.

To be successful in this role, you follow all safety protocols, including those intended to prevent infection, and you keep a clean work area at all times. You are eager to learn or help out in any way needed to keep the pharmacy running smoothly and get our patients their medications.

  • AIDET (Standard Patient Satisfaction Criteria).
  • Utilizes the AIDET principle to communicate with others, with a focus on patients and their families. Acknowledge Introduce Explain Duration Thank
  • Reads and interprets copies of physicians orders and enters them into a computerized profile system.
  • Fills patient medication cassettes and new medication orders with excellent accuracy.
  • Prepares injectable medications such as large volume IVS, syringes, IVPBs, hyperalimentation solutions and chemotherapy doses.
  • Uses pharmacy computer systems to produce a variety of reports, fill lists, labels and other related jobs
  • Delivers medications to the patient care areas.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Completion of a recognized technician training program; or two years working experience as a health systems pharmacy technician.
  • CA Pharmacy Technician License

Preferred

  • College course work concentrated in science
  • Previous certification in chemotherapy and hyperalimentation preparation

  • Knowledge of Windows based computer systems
