Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Administrative Director of Laboratory Services directs and oversees the 24-hour operations of the clinical laboratory to meet organizational needs and comply with federal and state requirements. Directors may be assigned responsibility for multiple sites or departments.

Position Description:

  • Directs, plans, organizes and implements strategies, and initiatives to enhance and support the operations of the clinical laboratories to ensure high quality, efficient, and cost-effective operations.
  • Directs and oversees laboratory specimen collection, specimen processing, on-site, point of care, and send-out testing services.
  • Collaborates with facility administrative and clinical leadership in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures, programs, and initiatives that support the mission, growth and success of the institution.
  • Provides direction to department personnel to achieve operational and technical objectives including workflow design, service quality, financial performance, regulatory compliance, personnel management, patient satisfaction, and employee engagement.
  • Monitors employee and departmental performance to ensure adherence to policies and procedures, timelines and regulatory requirements
  • Remains knowledgeable on new technologies, methods and approaches within the laboratory community

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological or chemical sciences, as defined by CLIA. 
  • Minimum of three combined years of leadership experience as a supervisor, manager or director at a moderate or high complexity laboratory.

Preferred:

  • Masters Degree. One year experience as a Director.

License/Certification:

  • Clininical Laboratory departments (AU750000):

State license:

California:  CLS:CA

Nevada: CLS:NV or GS:NV

North Dakota: MT-L:ND

Tennessee: MT-L:TN

  • MT or CLS or MLS certification required, ASCP or equivalent (per requirement sheet)
  • Pathology Laboratory department (AU 752000):
  • CT or HTL  certification required, ASCP or equivalent
