The posted compensation range of $59.69 - $71.53 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Ultrasound Technologist (Sonographer), you will utilize advanced sonographic equipment to record detailed images of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses, including unborn fetuses, providing critical visual data for diagnosis and prenatal care.
Every day you will directly interact with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and preparing them for scans. You will meticulously operate sonographic equipment, adjusting settings and patient positions to ensure clear, diagnostic images. You will monitor and care for patients to ensure their safety and comfort, select and examine images for pathologies, and present preliminary findings to Physicians.
To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent patient service and communication skills, sharp eyesight, and meticulous attention to detail. You will demonstrate strong technical proficiency, sound judgment, and advanced decision-making skills to effectively capture and interpret sonographic data, ensuring optimal diagnostic support.
- Schedule Exams
- Informs all patients of preparations for procedure
- Blocks out appropriate amounts of time for each exam
- Demonstrate proficiency at scanning with accuracy rate of the level of a board certified technologist
- Critiques films on each case with radiologist input. Less than 5% repeat
- Maintains proficiency in all areas of diagnostic ultrasound (abdomen, OB/Gyn, small parts).
- Reviews cases with radiologist before dictation
- Perform proper room set-up for special procedures
- Utilizes proper sterile technique 100% of the time for special procedures
- Performs equipment & room cleaning after each exam
- Quality control
- Performs monthly quality control on all equipment. Runs test films with phantoms used
- Monitors processor quality control daily
- Room set-up and assist radiologist with supply control
- Changes linen after each use
- Cleans room as needed and keeps stocked.
- Has supplies for each exam available for use
- Explains procedure to patients
- Assists radiologist when indicated
- Always replaces empty boxes in film bin
- Monitor all equipment use and function
- Reports all malfunctions of equipment to Radiology Director
- Fills out appropriate paperwork, if indicated
- Follows directions of appropriate person in repair or adjusting use of equipment
Required
- Student in an accreditedUltrasound program or One year clinical experience as atechnologist, upon hire
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, upon hire or
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, upon hire or
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Adult Echo, upon hire or
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Fetal Echo, upon hire or
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Pediatric Echo, upon hire or
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Abdomen, upon hire or
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Breast, upon hire or
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Neurosonology, upon hire or
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer OB/GYN, upon hire or
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Pediatric Sono, upon hire and
