Position:Clinical Laboratory Scientist II
Job Duties:
- Perform moderate and high complexity testing in areas of Blood Bank, Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Microbiology, Serology, and Urinalysis to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
- Validates and reports results of tests performed including recording patient results in Cerner Millennium LIS.
- Performs quality control, quality assurance, and performance improvement routinely in the department.
- Operate, calibrate, standardize, and maintain the following instruments according to procedure; Beckman Coulter DXH 600, Cellavision, Abbot Architect Chemistry Analyzer, Cepheid GeneExpert, Stago, Rotem, Siemens Clinitek, Iris IQ200, SQVA analyzer, Gel microtyping, Excyte ESR, various Serologic Test Kits.
- Assists in checking calculations, transcriptions, quality control, and quality assurance reports as requested
- Participates in professional growth by maintaining knowledge of lab specific policies and procedures and taking advantage of the available educational opportunities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested in a professional manner.
- Instructs other scientists and trainees on proper procedures and techniques for conducting tests and examinations.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or closely related. Employer will accept a foreign degree if in the same field.
Experience Requirements: 24 months of experience in the job offered, Medical Laboratory Technologist,
Clinical Laboratory Scientist or closely related.
Special skills requirements:
- Working in different sections of the Laboratory such as Serology, Blood Bank, Phlebotomy/Information, Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Microscopy (Parasitology/ Urinalysis), and Bacteriology.
- Receiving blood and blood products, receiving specimen such as blood, urine, stool, and other body fluids, and processing them with proper adherence to quality assurance programs of laboratory.
- Examine secretions and excretions of the human body by various electronics, chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic, hematological, serologic, and immunologic procedures and techniques either manual or automated.
- Evaluate and perform corrective actions using Quality Control specimens on various clinical instruments.
- Must have a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist) License from the California Department of Public Health.
- Must have an International Medical Laboratory Scientist (IMLS) Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
Salary: $97,676-$126,989 / year
Work Schedule: 40 hours/week
