The posted compensation range of $33.02 - $41.27 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Surgical Tech, you'll be an integral surgical team member, providing skilled assistance for safe, efficient procedures critical to patient outcomes.
Every day you will prepare the OR (instruments, equipment, supplies) and assist surgeons/nurses by anticipating needs, passing instruments, and maintaining the sterile field. You'll count items, handle specimens, assist with patient positioning, and adhere strictly to aseptic technique.
To be successful, you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong sterile technique knowledge, and the ability to anticipate needs in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and a steadfast commitment to patient safety are essential.
- Is a role model for the Hospital's Patient Satisfaction effort, i.e. demonstrates AIDET principles when interacting with customers, subordinates and colleagues.
- If requested to assist in patient transport to O.R., the O.R. technician is accountable for reassessment of patient pre-0p condition, correct procedure, patient and surgeon: Proper identification of patient, procedure and surgeon by reviewing with the patient verbally as well as checking the consent, chart and I.D. band. Implements age-appropriate safeguards for patients of various age groups.
- As a team member, demonstrates an ongoing assessment of psychosocial health status of patient: Assists the circulator in ensuring comfort and safety for the patient. Demonstrates awareness and age sensitive empathy for patient's fears and apprehension. Supports patient in pre, intra, and post-surgical phase.
- Demonstrates knowledge of body alignment anatomy, physiology and safety when positioning patient for surgical procedure: Assists circulator if necessary applying principles of body mechanics and assuring that bony prominence and superficial nerve pathways are well padded. Secures patient to operating surface with appropriate protective straps.
- Insure surgical room is clean for start of day: Wipe down room at the beginning of day with alcohol. Check for cleanliness throughout the day of all equipment and furniture.
Required
- Certified Surgical Technician
- 2 years scrub experience in an OR setting
- Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
