Responsibilities

As the Speech Therapy Supervisor at St. Bernardine Medical Center, you will be instrumental in planning, developing, implementing, and integrating outstanding speech therapy services across both our outpatient and acute care settings. This pivotal leadership role involves collaborating closely with the Manager of Rehabilitation and Senior Hospital Leadership to strategically manage human, fiscal, and other resources, drive business and personnel development, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and professional standards. You will also foster collaborative relationships with other service providers within the medical center, ensuring seamless patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, implement, and integrate speech therapy services for patients in outpatient and acute care settings.
  • Collaborate with Rehabilitation Management and Senior Hospital Leadership on resource management, business development, and personnel strategies.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory and professional standards for speech therapy services.
  • Provide expert guidance and training to clinical and support team members.
  • Act as a central liaison to cultivate strong cross-departmental relationships within the medical center.
  • Demonstrate active participation in fulfilling the Mission of St. Bernardine Medical Center and adherence to the organization’s Core Values.
  • Support the hospital’s strategic plan and actively contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years clinical experience in speech therapy

  • Preferred/Desired: 2 years of experience in a leadership role such as (Therapy Advancement Program, Lead Therapist)

  • Master's Degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology from an educational institution approved by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board.  Upon annual appraisal must demonstrate participation in external continuing education.

  • Current and active licensure in the state of California in Speech Therapy, Certification through American Speech-Language-Association (ASHA) for Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC's). Must maintain current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English (verbal and written) for effective communication with patients, familites, and all health care team.  Ability to work independently with no need for direct supervision.
  • Administration, teaching and leadership in speech therapy with regards to regulatory guidelines and standards of practice.
  • Completion of competency for Modified Barium Swallow Studies.
  • Upon completion of orientation and upon annual performance appraisal, must demonstrate competency in assessment and treatment of patients served (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
  • Preferred/Desired: Competency with Microsoft Suite- Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
