Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Respiratory Therapist, you will provide essential direct patient care, assessing, treating, and managing patients with respiratory disorders. Your role is vital for improving patient outcomes.
Every day, you will assess respiratory status, implement treatment plans (oxygen, ventilation, airway management), and educate patients/families. You'll document interventions and collaborate with physicians and medical staff.
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and equipment proficiency. Excellent communication for patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration, plus a commitment to safety and continuous development, are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Applies clinical knowledge and expertise for coordinating patient care by regularly planning and evaluating the respiratory care of patients.
- Demonstrates effective respiratory care judgment and a working knowledge of the respiratory process.
- Guides interdisciplinary team members by supervising respiratory interventions and assisting with related tasks.
- Provides leadership by establishing priorities and coordinating respiratory care.
- Documents and communicates all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the patient's condition to the appropriate member of the interdisciplinary health care team.
- Coordinates plan of care with other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to achieve desired goals and outcomes.
This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Job RequirementsRequired
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. Respiratory care services is pediatric department shall be provided by respiratory care practitioners who are licensed by the state of California and who have completed formal training in pediatric respiratory care which includes didactic and clinical experience., upon hire and
- Respiratory Care Practitioner: CA, upon hire and
- Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire and
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support, upon hire and
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program, upon hire
Preferred
- One (1) year previous experience as an RCP in acute care and
- Two (2) years of acute care experience, including critical care and neonatal intensive care for lead therapist positions and
- Experience in pediatric mechanical ventilation and airway management for working in the pediatric sub-acute unit
