Responsibilities

Medical Staff Coordinator – Community Hospital of San Bernardino

At Community Hospital of San Bernardino, the Medical Staff Coordinator is a key member of our administrative team, ensuring that our medical staff credentialing processes run efficiently and accurately. In this role, you will manage new appointment and reappointment processes for Licensed Independent Practitioners (LIPs) and Allied Health Professional Staff (AHP), ensuring compliance with medical staff bylaws, the credentials manual, and established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Process and verify medical staff credentialing and privileges for new and reappointment applications
  • Ensure thorough and timely validation of credentials in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Plan agendas, prepare for meetings, and record/transcribe minutes for departmental committees
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with Joint Commission standards, Title 22 regulations, and other regulatory bodies
  • Collaborate with various departments to support seamless and compliant credentialing operations

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have a strong working knowledge of the Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies, credentialing, effective time management, and be highly organized. In addition, you will build trust with coworkers, medical staff, and leadership.  

  • Minimum of three (3) years in an acute care setting as a medical staff services professional with credentialing experience OR  five (5) years credentialing experience in a large medical group, ambulatory, or other health care setting required. 
  • Certification as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM). If not certified must obtain certification within one (1) year of employment required. 
  • Knowledge of The Joint Commission Title XXII and CMS regulations about the organized medical staff; Excellent customer service writing and verbal communication organization planning time management skills, and attention to detail. Ability to function well within a team and independently; Medical Terminology; Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to type 50 wpm from clear copy; Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to update and maintain a computerized credentialing database required.
