Responsibilities

Performs a variety of procedures in the Echo lab, stress lab; including inpatient and outpatient studies across the spectrum of adult transthoracic echo, adult TEE, Stress Echo, contrast echo, bubbly study. Provides technical leadership and expert instruction to Certified and Non-Credentialed cardiac sonographers within the Echo/Cardiovascular staff. This position treats/cares for patients of all ages. In-depth knowledge and experience with Merge Cardio PACS, our new diagnostic reporting system at MTMC. Expectation to maintain all aspects of Merge Cardio PACS from trouble-shooting the system, maintaining system interfaces, creating structured reporting, changing report templates, merging studies, etc. Coordination of reporting between interpreting and referring physician. Coordination of staff reporting and interpreting physician reporting. Oversight of echo lab QA with goal to reach national accreditation (IAC). Performs a variety of procedures in the Vascular lab, including but not limited to carotid doppler, abdominal aortic ultrasound, renal artery doppler, lower extremity arterial and venous procedures, and ABIs. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of the organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the core values. The employee shall support the organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the performance improvement plan (PIP).

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

Experience: 

  • Minimum 3 years acute care experience. 

Education: 

  • Must be registry eligible through ARDMS or CCI.

Licensure:

  • Must be registry eligible through ARDMS or CCI. 
  • Must have current certificate for AHA Basic Life Support.
  • Membership in National Organization for Cardiovascular Technologists is desirable. 

Special Skills:

  • Theoretical background in basic electronics, hemodynamic measurements, exercise stress testing, cardiac adult sonography, and vascular sonography. Theoretic understanding is required in transesophageal echocardiography, peripheral vascular testing and echo stress testing. 

Preferred: 

  • Completion of an approved (AMA) program for cardiovascular technology with certificate preferred. 
  • Prefer RDCS and RVT.
