Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Nutrition Assistant II, you will prepare and serve food according to menu/dietary requirements, maintain knowledge of recipe ingredients for food allergies, and ensure a high-quality patient and customer experience in accordance with healthcare foodservice industry standards.

Every day you will prepare and serve food efficiently, follow healthcare foodservice industry standards (including monitoring food temperatures, preventing cross-contamination, and adhering to hygiene requirements). You will also manage labeling/storage, ensure proper meal portioning and presentation, and provide service recovery. Responsibilities may include following therapeutic diet modifications, printing production tools, explaining basic therapeutic diet orders, collecting patient food preferences, operating electronic diet office software, navigating EHRs, and performing general cleaning.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong knowledge of therapeutic diets and food allergies, meticulous attention to food safety and sanitation, and excellent customer service skills.

  • Prepares and serves food within guidelines of menu and dietary requirements using required kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Follows healthcare foodservice industry standards, regulations, guidelines and procedures including monitoring and maintaining food temperatures during cooking, holding, and storage processes.
  • Following therapeutic diet modifications and guidelines including allergy restrictions for all patient meal trays, nourishment, snacks and supplements.
  • Explaining basic therapeutic diet orders and menus and responding to questions from patients and family members.
  • Collecting patient food preferences and ensuring compliance with prescribed diet orders.
  • Operates electronic diet office software and tools following established procedures and protocols.
Job Requirements

Required

  • One (1) year of food service experience
  • FHP: within 30 days or state requirement
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred

  • Customer service experience
